Such a crazy summer and it's only June 15th!

Yes, this summer we have already chopped down 4 trees in our yard, power washed the house and shed and swing set, majorly organized the garage and shed (5S is what Justin calls it). I have rescued one son from a very high tree that he courageously climbed. I had a garage sale. I survived a flooded basement, when our sump pump died last weekend (at least now my basement is clean). I hosted a baby-shower at my home. I have two beautiful hanging flower baskets that have been exceptionally beautiful all summer, and yet the very day we are having a baby shower at our home, I decide to try to make these flowers look even better, so I mix up some miracle grow and spray them around 8am in the morning. Well, by 10:00am I notice my pretty flowers looking really brown and dry and not good! So I take them down and spray them with the hose, but the damage was already done. So the one day of the whole summer when I wanted them to look nice, I ruin it. Oh, I was so mad at myself! I almost went out and bought new ones, (they looked really really bad)!
On a positive note, I have a new Shop-Vac, because when the basement flooded we needed something to suck up all the water!
And... I have a new floor steamer mop thing! I got it with a Birthday gift card from my sweet in-laws! (I will be using it daily!)(I saw it advertised on TV and I have wanted one ever since, and they had them at Bed Bath and Beyond, so I got it yesterday and have already used it!) THANK YOU!
Today as been no less than crazy! Our wonderful neighbor friend Diana has been over most of the day, and the kids and I all adore her. She is a really cool and fun 14 year old, and she's the best babysitter in the world! Anyways, Diana and the kids were playing 'hide and seek' in the basement, and I was making lunch and doing laundry, when I got the news that there was a FIRE in the basement. Yes, I said FIRE!
Let me take you back 15 - 20 minutes prior.............................. They were all playing hide and seek, with very little light, because there isn't many places to hide down there, so you can hide better in little light. So Cameron is hiding in his bedroom and it is pretty dark, so he decides to turn on his little lamp! But......... it's too bright, so he then lays it on the bed and covers it with underwear! And it's still too bright so he covers it with a coloring book and a piece of Christmas wrapping paper! That seemed to work good for him, so now he moves out of the room and continues with the game, well a little while later Diana and the kids smell something burning, and they assume it is me making lunch :)
So they just continue playing the game. Then they think, man it smells weird in the basement, it must be the laundry room where I've been doing laundry. So they continue playing!
Finally, Diana goes to hide in Cameron's room and notices smoke coming from Cameron's bed! So she removes the coloring book and WOW, there is a fire in the basement! The underwear was completely burned and the sheets, mattrace pad and 2 inches into the mattrace were on fire! The smell is soooooooooooooooooooooo bad! I still have a head ache from breathing it in!
I am so thankful everyone is okay and so thankful we discovered it before too long!

So yes, this has been a full and crazy summer so far! The kids have been begging me to go on a bike ride to Pops and Grandma's (which is like 15 miles away) Yes, my seven year old and six year old think they can ride that far! Even if they could continuously ride that far, it is on main roads (like 4 lane highway type things!) So not gonna happen!!!!
I think we'll go to the library instead.
